You have iOS 27 but no Siri AI? You cannot officially enable it in the EU

Siri AI is not currently available on iPhone or iPad in the European Union. iOS 27 installs normally, but even a compatible iPhone in the EU may not show the new assistant or its beta enrolment option.

This is not an update failure. Apple attributes the delay to the EU Digital Markets Act, while the first beta also requires a supported language. Polish is not among them. A different language alone does not remove the regional restriction.

Below we separate the three checks that are often confused: hardware compatibility, a supported Siri AI language and regional availability. We also explain which iOS 27 features remain usable and why changing the region is not an official solution.

Why is Siri AI missing in the EU?

Apple says Siri AI can use personal context, understand what is on screen and perform actions across apps. The company argues that DMA interoperability obligations could weaken the privacy and security model it designed for those functions. This is Apple’s stated position, not a technical defect in the phone.

In short: iOS 27 is only one requirement. The device, language and region must also be supported.

Which iPhones are technically compatible?

Apple lists iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, every iPhone 16 or newer, iPhone Air, iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro family. A supported iPad with M1 or newer, or iPad mini with A17 Pro, also meets the hardware requirement.

Compatibility does not override the EU block. Base iPhone 15 models, the iPhone 14 series and older phones are not on Apple’s official list.

Will changing language or region enable it?

Not officially on an iPhone used in the EU. English is required for the initial beta, but changing the interface language does not remove the iOS and iPadOS regional restriction. Switching the account or store region can also affect payments, subscriptions and service availability, and is not a supported workaround.

What features are EU users missing?

The new Siri can hold a more natural conversation, draw on information in messages, mail and photos, understand on-screen content and complete multi-step tasks in apps. Features that depend directly on Siri AI, including parts of Visual Intelligence, camera assistance and system writing tools, are unavailable with it. watchOS 27 also needs a paired iPhone with the service enabled.

The restriction also covers the dedicated app for returning to previous Siri conversations, expanded Visual Intelligence, Siri mode in Camera and parts of the system writing experience announced for iOS 27. On Apple Watch, Siri AI requires a paired iPhone with the service active, so watchOS 27 users in the EU are affected as well.

What still works in iOS 27?

iOS 27 is not an empty update. Security fixes, interface and app changes, and model-dependent performance improvements remain available. Apple Intelligence is also a wider umbrella than Siri AI, so losing the new assistant does not automatically remove every on-device machine-learning feature.

Does Siri AI work on a Mac in the EU?

Apple announced an exception for macOS 27 and visionOS 27: the assistant can work on compatible hardware in the EU when a supported language is selected. The beta launched in English; French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are due later. Apple has not announced Polish support or a date for iPhone and iPad availability in the EU.
