Samsung has started the One UI 9 update. Check when your Galaxy may receive it
Samsung has started the stable One UI 9 rollout based on Android 17. It began on 16 September 2026 in South Korea for Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 shipped with the software.
That does not mean every eligible phone receives it on the same day. Rollouts vary by model, country and operator. Below we separate devices with stable software from reported dates and models that are only expected to qualify.
The key distinction is between phones that shipped with One UI 9, models whose stable rollout has officially started, devices that remain in beta and older Galaxy phones expected to qualify only from Samsung’s support policy.
Which phones already have One UI 9?
Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 have One UI 9 from the factory. Samsung officially started the S26-series rollout on 16 September. The first wave was Korean; additional markets are being added in stages. “Rollout started” is therefore more accurate than “available everywhere”.

Which dates are confirmed and which are only reported?
Samsung’s global newsroom confirms the S26 rollout but does not provide a complete country-by-country calendar. Industry reports point to a wider S26 phase from 21 September and to the S25 family, Fold7 and Flip7 from 28 September on selected markets. Treat those dates as regional reports, not a promise for every European device.
Which older Galaxy models may qualify?
Recent flagships and mid-range phones still inside Samsung’s Android-upgrade policy are the strongest candidates. That includes recent S, Z and selected A-series generations, but a complete global list with dates has not been published. The safest check is the original support commitment for your exact model and market, not a copied internet list.
The high-probability group includes the Galaxy S25, S24 and S23 generations with selected FE variants; Z Fold7/Flip7, Fold6/Flip6 and Fold5/Flip5; newer Galaxy A models with long support, including A56 and A36; and recent Galaxy Tab S tablets that remain inside their major Android-upgrade window. This is a compatibility forecast, not an official date list.

When will the update arrive in your country?
A Samsung update can appear days or weeks after the first announcement. Certification, operator testing and regional firmware branches all matter. Check Settings → Software update → Download and install, but repeated manual checks cannot force a package that has not reached your CSC region.
How should you prepare for installation?
- Back up important photos, messages and authentication codes.
- Charge the battery and connect to reliable Wi-Fi.
- Keep several gigabytes of free storage.
- Update important apps after the system restarts.
- If battery use is temporarily higher, allow a day or two for indexing before judging the update.
Do not install firmware intended for another region solely to get the update earlier unless you understand the warranty, compatibility and data-loss risks.
What if the update still does not appear?
- check the exact model number and country of distribution
- restart the phone and check again after several days
- verify whether a beta programme requires a separate withdrawal or package
- do not treat a Korean or US launch as proof of availability in Europe
- allow extra time for carrier-branded firmware
Repeated manual checks cannot make Samsung release a package for a CSC region that has not entered the rollout wave.
