When did Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max launch?
Both models were presented in China on 23 September 2026 and are listed in Xiaomi’s Chinese store. The specifications and prices in this article refer to those Chinese versions, not to phones already on sale across Europe.
The standard Xiaomi 18 was not part of this launch. It would be misleading to treat rumours about that separate model as specifications for either Pro device.
How much do they cost in China?
The 12GB/256GB Xiaomi 18 Pro starts at CNY 5,999. The equivalent Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999, a difference of CNY 1,000. More expensive storage options exist for both; these figures are entry prices, not a promise of future European pricing.
Converting yuan into euros or pounds does not produce a retail price. Taxes, distribution and potentially different regional configurations all matter. Xiaomi has yet to announce an international price list.
What do the rear screen and privacy display actually do?
The small display by the rear cameras can frame selfies with the main camera and show selected app cards, information and animations. The Pro uses a 2.7-inch panel and the Pro Max a 2.9-inch panel. How useful it feels after a week is a question for independent testing.
The privacy feature concerns the front display: it makes content harder to read from an angle, for example on a train. It is separate from the rear screen. Check the exact software options when the international version is released rather than assuming every Chinese launch feature will arrive unchanged.
Do two 200MP Leica cameras guarantee better photos?
Each phone pairs a 200MP main camera with a 200MP periscope telephoto with roughly 3.2× optical zoom; there is also a 50MP ultrawide. The telephoto is the interesting practical change if you shoot portraits or distant details.
Resolution alone says little about low-light detail, shutter speed, HDR or skin tones. Compare independent photos from the same scenes before deciding that two high-resolution sensors are better than a rival phone. We have not tested these devices ourselves.
What is different between Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max?
The Pro has a 6.4-inch main screen, 7,000mAh battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The Pro Max moves to 6.9 inches, 8,500mAh and the Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both offer a rear display, 120Hz refresh and up to 100W wired charging on the Chinese models.
The larger battery does not guarantee proportionally longer endurance because a larger screen also draws power. The Pro is about 203g and the Max about 235g, so size and weight may matter more than a benchmark score in everyday use.
When could Xiaomi 18 Pro reach Europe?
Xiaomi has confirmed a global launch for the 18 Pro series in 2026. It has not given an exact day, country list or European prices. A global launch also does not guarantee that both models and every storage option will be sold in each market.
Mid-November 2026 has appeared as a possible window for the international announcement. Treat it as an unconfirmed report, not an official UK or European on-sale date.
Separate reports about a February or March release concern the standard Xiaomi 18, which was not unveiled with the Pro models. They do not confirm a February European release for Xiaomi 18 Pro or Pro Max.
HyperOS code points to model numbers 2609BPN61G and 2611FPNFAG with 6,000mAh for the Pro and 7,050mAh for the Pro Max, versus 7,000mAh and 8,500mAh in China. Xiaomi has not confirmed those global figures, so check the regional product page before buying.
Should you wait for the international version?
If the rear screen, 200MP telephoto and large battery appeal to you, wait for European pricing and independent testing of the international model. If you need a phone now, do not plan a purchase around an unconfirmed November date.
